Some things you might not know about Live Edge Design

We have high standards.

I'm not big on horn tooting which is why some of this will come as news to you, but here is where Live Edge Design excels...

Sourcing and drying wood – Most of our wood is urban-salvaged and expertly dried in our own kilns. If you don’t find what you want in the 10’s of thousands of board feet of amazing wood in stock, we will find and mill a tree to fit your needs.

Service – From simple things like answering our phone to providing detailed drawings and delivering on time, we strive to provide an excellent experience.

Design - we custom create to meet any specifications and ensure the finished piece stands the test of time.

See some examples in this months round-up.

Meet "The Gorge Collection"

Each base design has a name that evokes our natural environment.

This could be a favorite Vancouver Island location, a natural feature or even an inspiring notion.

The Gorge base design features a river rock mounted in a curved steel trestle style leg, modern, natural and very functional.

See the inspiration behind the "Gorge" collection here.

Before and after....

We use images of the pre-worked slabs and some photoshop magic to create mock-up, 'Before', images of each piece. This gives our clients peace of mind and extra choice when it comes to the details that each grain feature presents.

In this case a clear glass tidepool was chosen as a centerpiece, the round shape is elegantly enhanced with a bevel and placed on our Kett base.

In stock and ready to ship...

This stunning, king size slab headboard mounts securely to the wall to create an instant focal point.

Project spotlight

When one of our clients asked for a tree shaped art piece for their fire surround we stepped up to the challenge and used Western Bigleaf Maple and American Walnut wide plank wood to create the shapely branches and tree trunk. A live edge slab was used for the mantel shelf.
